CCN1 Course in Glasgow – Core Domestic Gas Safety Training and Reassessment

CCN1 Initial Training

The initial CCN1 course is designed for candidates who have never held the CCN1 qualification, or whose CCN1 has been expired for more than 12 months. This typically includes new entrants who have completed the Gas Managed Learning Programme, engineers returning to the gas industry after a career break, or engineers who did not renew their qualifications within the required timeframe.

The initial route includes one day of structured refresher training followed by four days of assessment, covering both online multiple-choice examinations and practical assessments. The course is delivered at our Glasgow training centre with full access to gas rigs and testing equipment.

CCN1 Reassessment

For experienced gas engineers whose CCN1 is still in date or due to expire within the next six months, our reassessment options provide a straightforward route to renewal. You can resit your CCN1 up to six months before expiry, ensuring continuity of your Gas Safe registration with no gap in your qualifications.

We offer two reassessment formats to suit different working patterns:

Weekday Reassessment (3 days): One day of refresher training followed by two days of assessment. This option includes structured preparation time and is ideal if you want a supported route through the reassessment process. Allows reassessment of CCN1 plus up to four domestic gas appliances.

Weekend Reassessment (2 days, Saturday & Sunday): Assessment-only format designed for experienced engineers who cannot take time away from work during the week. Covers CCN1 plus up to four domestic gas appliances across the weekend. This is our most popular option for working engineers.

Career Context

CCN1 is the gateway qualification for the domestic gas industry. Without it, you cannot add any domestic appliance categories to your ACS certification, and you cannot register with Gas Safe. Maintaining a current CCN1 is essential for any engineer who wants to continue legally working on domestic gas systems. Once you hold CCN1, you can add categories for boilers, fires, cookers, meters, and other appliances – each additional category expands the scope of work you are qualified to carry out and increases your earning potential.
