Gas Managed Learning Programme in Glasgow – Become a Qualified Gas Engineer

What the Programme Covers

The Gas MLP is divided into structured phases that build your knowledge and practical skills progressively. The curriculum covers:

  • Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) – the mandatory foundation qualification for all gas engineers, covering gas legislation, combustion principles, ventilation, flue systems, tightness testing, and unsafe situation procedures
  • Domestic Gas Appliance Categories – hands-on training and assessment on central heating boilers (CEN1), gas fires (HTR1), gas cookers (CKR1), and gas meters (MET1)
  • Practical Workshop Training – extensive time working on real gas rigs and installations in our training centre, developing the hands-on competence that employers and the Gas Safe Register require
  • Gas Safety Legislation – thorough understanding of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, your responsibilities as a gas operative, and the legal framework around domestic gas work
  • Risk Assessment and Safe Working Practices – systematic approaches to identifying hazards, managing risk on site, and working safely in domestic properties
  • Tightness Testing and Purging Procedures – practical skills in testing gas installations for leaks and safely purging systems before commissioning
  • Unsafe Situations and Emergency Procedures – how to identify, classify, and manage unsafe gas situations in line with Gas Safe requirements, including the Immediately Dangerous (ID), At Risk (AR), and Not to Current Standards (NCS) classifications
  • Preparation for ACS Assessments – structured revision and mock assessments to ensure you are fully prepared for both the written (multiple-choice) and practical elements of your ACS certification

Who Is This Programme For?

Thinking About a Career in Gas or Electrical?

We understand that not everyone can commit to full-time study, which is why we offer the Gas MLP in both full-time and part-time formats. The full-time programme runs Monday to Friday, allowing you to complete the qualification as quickly as possible. The part-time option is designed for people who need to work alongside their training, with sessions spread across fewer days per week over a longer period.

Both options cover the same curriculum and lead to the same qualifications. Speak to our team to discuss which format suits your circumstances.
